Record of my activities in this holidays (activity 2- SCI international workcamp)

After Penang Bridge Run, the second activity that i joined was SCI internationan workcamp. The camp was held at Ulu Langat, Selangor,from 22 November until 28 November. That was the longsest camp that i had ever participate! Bee Kheng, Jia Ling, Carmen, Yong Zheng, Kok Wei paticipated in this camp also~


SCI international workcamp day 1(22/11)
                                                                                                                                                                We left for Kl at 9am and reached Duta station at 12.30 afternoon. Then, Uncle Stephen came to fetch us. He brought us to eat the Ampang Yongtaufu for lunch haha. Then, we had Cendol at Kak Zak Cendol stall. He claimed that that was the best cendol in KL haha. After that, we followed Uncle Stephen to some shops to take the medals for Ecowalk, and the banner. Then, Uncle Stephen took us back to the campsite. I met the other campers there, they are :  William, Aunty Sue, Ezwan, Ho Chih Ming, Edward Chuah, Alex, Thazin (from Myanmar), Huyen and Jimmy (from Vietnam).At night, we introduced ourselves and play some games too. 


SCI international workcamp day 2 (23/11)
                                                                                                                                                                The activity for second day was visit and working at an organic farm. That was the first time i visit organic farm. We started to work after we were given some briefing. We are required to remove the weeds around the farm. The work was quite tiring for me as the grass was tough and we have to work under hot sun. Then Mr.Yap, the owner of the organic farm treated us organinc lunch. We had organic vegetable soup, stir fried sugar cane flower and bihun for lunch. The meal was simple but i was satisfied with that. I realised that it is not easy to be a farmer and manage an organic farm. 

SCI international workcamp day3 (24/11)
                                                                                                                                                              Brandon Liu. a people from WWF gave us a talk about conservation of tiger, the endangered species. Brandon said, there were only approximately 500 tigers in Penisular Malaysia now! Among 9 sub-species of tigers,  3 sub-species was extinted! Besides, he told us that we must protect the tigers so that the food chain will not break and thus the balance of ecosystem is concerved. He showed us about a tiger which trapped in a trap set by the hunters. The hunters are really cruel...... After the talk, we had an discussion session. The title was : "Development VS Conservation. How to balance?" The title was very intresting and the discussion session was very benificial to us to enhance our ability in critical thinking.  After lunch, Uncle William took us to  Sungai Gabai Waterfall with other SCI campers. The waterfall was huge! The water there was cold and the current was powerful. Besides, the rocks were very slippery. I fell down several times when i was walking along the waterfall. I was thrilled and we had an enjoyable times with other SCI campers.


SCI international workcamp day4 (25/11)
Today is the off day of SCI camps. Im quite surprised as there is a off day in camp. Bee Kheng, Jia Ling, Carmen, Yong Zheng, Kok Wei and i decided to go to Midvalley, while the rest decided to go other place to buy some souveniers. We had some lunch at KimGary restaurant after we met Alex at Midvalley. After lunch, we went to watch a 3D movie, Megamind. That was my first time to watch 3D movie and i like the graphic very much!

 SCI international workcamp day5 (26/11)
                                                                                                                                                                 We went to clean the river which was nearby to our campsite. We are required to pick up the garbage around the river.  All people are very helpful and coorperative. I was quite happy as i had done a meaningful thing and i had a sense of archivement when the job was done because the difference between before and after cleaning was significant. After lunch, we went to Kajang with Aunty Sue to buy some things. She bought many things at a supermarket such as bread, cereal, cereal to make hampers for this coming Ecowalk  

SCI international workcamp day6 (27/11) 

For that day, we went for a tree planting activity at SJKT Kajang. The activity was organised by the HANDS (Human And Nature Development Society) and SCI. There are 72 trees in total are planted in this activity. We had some refreshemnt before the activity started. After all the VIP arrived, the chairman of HANDS and SCI gave some speech. Then, each of us took a tree and planted it around the school compound. The activity was very meaningful for me as i had done a small contribution in saving the mother nature. After the tree planting activity, we went back to the campsite and had lunch. After that, we had a evaluation session. In this activity, we were given a chance to express our feelings about this camp. Then we went to play water at Gunung Ruang. We splashed water with each other. Im glad that we can mix together well. 


SCI international workcamp day7 (28/11) 

Today is the last day of SCI camp. Today we woke up earlier as we have to do some preparation for the Eco Walk. The walk started at 7.30am. We can see greenery along the way and the air was refreshing. But it was very tiring because the road to Gunung Ruang was steep, rocky and muddy. I was leading along the way haha.... Of course, i was the first one who finished the 6KM track. I received a medal and certificate and we took picture together. Then we went back to the campsite and pack up our thing. Uncle Stephen fetch us to the bus station. We went back to Kuala Kangsar reluctantly.....

Record of my activities in this holidays (activity 1- Penang Bridge Run)

Its 31december 2010 now, year 2010 is coming to the end. Time to record down all the activities that i done in this holiday~


The Penang Bridge Run was the first activity that i participated for this holiday.
Penang Bridge Run was held at 21November and the category that i participated was 10km run.
The track was not challenging as i thaught as the road was not very steep.
Besides, i enjoyed the picturesque scenery along the way too!
Overally, the run was very challenging and tiring.
But, i manage to handle it as i participated in Kuala Kangsar Double Bridge run 12km category before haha My ranking was 387 out of 2296 participants, and my record was 57min40sec.
I am quite statisfied with the result actually.


That was my first activities in this holidays, the Penang Bridge Run! hehe

对不起

今天真的有点开心,因为我解决了一场误会
几个星期前,因为大家的意见不一样,步伐不一样
导致我和一位朋友因为学会的事发生纠纷
结果事情就在许许多多的纠纷下中完成后,就不了了之...


直到今天放学后,我们在校门外的巴士亭遇见了他,
当时巴士亭里只有我们两,路上并没有车经过,感觉异常的宁静
坐下来后,我们都没有说话,大家只坐在那等车
这时我想起了我们之间发生过的纠纷与误会,真的觉得有点愧疚


我鼓起了勇气,向他说了对不起...
对不起这三个字,划开了宁静的气氛
这时我感觉到我心跳开始加速,不知道他会怎么回应我
结果,他向我微微笑,跟我说不要紧,他一点也不在意
哈哈这时我真的松了一口气...
我们两就开始很叽喳的谈天,直到他的车来了...
他走了后不久,我的车也来了.我也踏着轻松地脚步回家去了...

解决了一场误会后,真的觉得轻松多了....

National Robotic Competition (NRC) 2010

The first incident that i would like to record is the NRC competition which was held at 29-7-2010 ( Thursday). For the best performance at the competition day, all 3 teams were gathered at Hooi Min's house to do final preparation for it at Wednesday. We practiced and tested from 8pm night to 2am midnight non-stop!


On that particular day, I woke up at 6am and gathered at school gate. We departed for the competition venue, SMK Buhaimuddin, Taiping. We were given some briefing by the organizer before the competition started. We were given 1 and half hour to assemble and test the robot before round one of the competition. We finished assembling our robot within 10minutes and our team was the first team who finished building the robot. After that we brought the robot to be tested. It was successful. The robot managed to climb the pole and get the ping pong ball smoothly. We were really happy as we could finish all the works within 15minutes. For the rest of time, we watched movie and played computer games by using laptop in a relaxing manner, while the other teams were still busy assembling their robot. Even the prefects on duty were curious.


One and a half hour past. Here comes the first round competition. When it was our turn, we brought our robot to the map confidently. Seng Kong activated the robot right after the judge said "start". At first, the robot managed to climb the pole smoothly. But, to our surprise, the robot failed to get the ping pong ball as expected! We were shocked and wondered why as it was a success during testing. We only scored 35 marks for this round as we only managed to climb the pole but failed to get the ball.


After round one competition, each team were given 30 minutes to modify their robot before round two started. We decided to modify the program of the robot to overcome this problem. Soon, 30 minutes past. It's time for the second round. For this round, the robot managed to get the ping pong ball. We were relieved. For this round we scored 60 marks as we managed to climb and get the ping pong ball. The best score will be counted.


After lunch, it's time for prize giving ceremony. The best 10 team will be announced, starting from 10th. We thought our team will not be in the list as there were many teams which were much better than us. But, suddenly, our team was announced as 7th(out of 34teams)!! we leaped with joy as the result was out of expectation!


In overall, I was satisfied with our result as it was my first time to participate in this competition. It was a wonderful and memorable experience. We became closer after this competition as we had the chance to get to know more about our teammates during this competition. I think I am not going to participate in Robotic Competition for next year.Its finally over and we managed to get a good result for it.
